What exchange rate do you use?

Use your card abroad.

You are able to use your card to make payments abroad. The most up to date exchange rate is stated in the Kestrl App in the ‘Cards’ tab.

Neither Kestrl nor AF Payments controls the exchange rates used by third-party merchants or their banks.

A good example of this is if you are overseas and end up paying a bill at a restaurant. You agree on the card machine to pay in your home currency, rather than the local currency. When you do that, you’re asking the restaurant’s bank to convert the currency for you instead of Kestrl, and they may use a different rate or charge a fee.

If you use your card outside of the UK or EEA, then there is a fee applied per transaction. See a full breakdown of fees here.
