What is your onboarding journey?

The whole process takes roughly 10 minutes.

Welcome to Kestrl! Whether you're looking for rewards on your spending, or an ethical place to store your funds then you've come to the right place.

We are currently building our waitlist and onboarding customers to our 'Alif' user programme every few weeks. Once onboarded, sign-up is very easy and only takes a few minutes.

What is the Alif Programme?

Whilst we're in build mode, we're looking for a few thousand 'early adopters' or Alif users. Alif users get exclusive access to perks, new products and features for the duration of the Alif programme! The only catch? We need your feedback, advice, (and patience!) to help us build a true alternative to modern day banking.

It won't always be pretty, and there will be plenty of speed bumps on the road ahead, but with your help we know we'll be able to build the best experience possible.

To increase your chances of becoming an Alif user then please share some details about yourself here.

How to sign-up

The sign-up process should take less than 10 minutes from start to end.

Step 1: Download the app

Head over to the App Store or Google Play Store and search 'Kestrl'. Note that if you had the old Kestrl budgeting app, you'll need to delete that first.

Step 2: Tell us about you

We'll ask for your name, home address, email, and phone number that you'd like to pair with your account. To meet legal requirements, we must collect some information about your salary, work industry and how you want to use the Kestrl account.

Once you've completed this you'll be added to the Kestrl waitlist. Until you are invited to the 'Alif programme' (see earlier)

Step 3: Prove who you are

To confirm your identity we will need:

  • A valid photo ID: Passports, Driving Licences (including provisionals), or National ID cards. We currently only accept UK and Malaysian IDs.

  • A proof of address: Any of the following documents in your name, showing your address, and meeting the validity requirement below:

    • Local authority council tax bill (current council tax year)

    • Utility bill (gas, electric, satellite television, landline phone) — issued within the last 3 months

    • Bank, Building Society or Credit Union statement or passbook — dated within the last 3 months. Note that statements from e-money providers such as Wise are not accepted

    • Original mortgage statement from a recognised lender — issued for the last full year

    • Solicitor's letter confirming recent house purchase or Land Registry confirmation of address — issued within the last 3 months

    • Electoral Register entry — dated within the last 3 months

    • NHS medical card or letter from GP practice confirming registration — dated within the last 3 months

    • Driving licence (if not used as your photo ID) — must be in date

    • Tenancy agreement — must be in date

  • A selfie: We'll ask you to hold your phone camera in front of your face in various positions. This will be compared against your ID for validation.

After you have completed the onboarding process, your application will be reviewed within 1-2 working days.

Step 4: Order your card

Load at least £100 onto the card account and order your debit card. The debit card will arrive at the address you provided as part of sign-up. If you'd like it delivered elsewhere please contact support.

Step 5: Activate your card

Your card will arrive within a few days in a letter which will have your activation code. Enter it into your app and your card will now be live and assigned to you!

Step 6: Earn your rewards

All Kestrl customers are eligible for perks. Check out further information about the rewards process here
